Subscriptions & Licensing
MimicScribe Unlimited is sold as a subscription. Checkout and billing are handled by Stripe; license keys and subscription state are managed by the MimicScribe server.

How to purchase
- Go to the pricing section on the MimicScribe website
- Choose Monthly or Annual billing
- Click the subscribe button — this opens a Stripe Checkout page
- Enter your email and payment details (credit/debit card, Apple Pay, or Link)
- Complete the purchase
After checkout you’re returned to a welcome page that activates your license automatically in MimicScribe and shows the license key. Stripe also emails a receipt to the address you used at checkout.
Activating your license key
There are two ways to activate:
Automatic activation from the welcome page
The welcome page on mimicscribe.app/welcome opens a mimicscribe://activate?key=… deep link, which launches MimicScribe and activates automatically.
Manual activation
- Open MimicScribe and click the menu bar icon, then the gear icon to open Settings
- Tap the subscription status at the bottom of the sidebar
- Paste your license key into the field (starts with
ms_live_…) - Click Activate
A status indicator confirms your license state:
- Active (green) — subscription is active, all limits removed
- Expired (orange) — subscription has ended, free tier limits apply
- Invalid (red) — key not recognized, check for typos
Where to find your license key
- Welcome page immediately after purchase — save it there, it isn’t shown again if you reload
- Inside MimicScribe — open Settings, tap the subscription status at the bottom of the sidebar
- Stripe receipt email — the license key is included in the receipt
If you lost it, email support@mimicscribe.app with the email you used at checkout and I’ll resend it.
Managing your subscription
All subscription management happens through the Stripe billing portal:
Enter the email you used at checkout — Stripe emails you a secure magic link. Click it to open the portal. From there you can:
- View your current subscription and next billing date
- See your order history and download invoices
- Update your card
- Cancel your subscription
- Switch between monthly and annual plans
If you’re already in the app, Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription opens the portal directly without the email step.
Canceling your subscription
- Go to mimicscribe.app/account
- Enter your checkout email — Stripe emails you a login link
- Click the link, then Cancel subscription in the portal
When you cancel:
- Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period
- You won’t be charged again after the current period ends
- Once the period ends, your license becomes inactive and free tier limits apply
- Your data, transcripts, and recordings are never deleted — they remain on your Mac

30-day money-back guarantee
I offer a 30-day refund window from the date of your first purchase. If MimicScribe isn’t working out for you, email support@mimicscribe.app with your purchase date and I’ll process a refund — no questions asked.
After 30 days
After the 30-day window, all sales are final. I encourage you to make full use of the free tier before purchasing to make sure MimicScribe meets your needs.
Subscription renewals
If your subscription renews and you did not cancel beforehand, the renewal charge is not eligible for a refund. Cancel from mimicscribe.app/account before your renewal date to prevent future charges.
How refunds are processed
Refunds are returned to your original payment method. Processing time depends on your card issuer, typically 5–10 business days.

What payment methods are accepted?
Stripe accepts major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link.
When am I charged?
- Monthly: on the same date each month as your original purchase
- Annual: on the same date each year as your original purchase
What happens if my payment fails?
Stripe retries failed charges automatically on a smart schedule. If payment continues to fail, your subscription becomes past-due and AI features revert to free-tier limits. Update your payment method at mimicscribe.app/account to restore access.
Can I switch between monthly and annual billing?
Yes — open mimicscribe.app/account, sign in with your checkout email (or use the Manage Subscription button in the app), and change your plan in the Stripe billing portal. Prorations are handled automatically; your license key stays the same.
I purchased but didn’t receive my license key
Check the welcome page or your Stripe receipt email. If you still can’t find the key, email support@mimicscribe.app.
My license shows as Invalid
- Double-check the key for typos — copy and paste from the welcome page or Stripe receipt rather than typing it
- Make sure your subscription is still active at mimicscribe.app/account
- If you recently renewed, try clicking Activate again in Settings
