MimicScribe Pro is sold as a subscription through Polar, our payment and licensing provider. Polar handles checkout, billing, license key delivery, and subscription management.

How to purchase
- Go to the pricing section on the MimicScribe website
- Choose Monthly or Annual billing
- Click the subscribe button — this opens a Polar checkout page
- Enter your email and payment details (credit/debit card)
- Complete the purchase
After checkout you’ll receive a confirmation email from Polar containing your license key and a link to activate it.
Activating your license key
There are two ways to activate:
From the confirmation email
Click the activation link in your Polar purchase email. It uses the URL scheme mimicscribe://activate?key=... to open MimicScribe and activate automatically.
Manual activation
- Open MimicScribe and go to Settings > Subscription
- Paste your license key into the field
- Click Verify
A status indicator confirms your license state:
- Active (green) — subscription is active, all limits removed
- Expired (orange) — subscription has ended, free tier limits apply
- Invalid (red) — key not recognized, check for typos
Where to find your license key
Your license key is available in several places:
- Purchase confirmation email from Polar
- Polar customer portal at polar.sh/mimicscribe/portal — sign in with your purchase email to view your key, orders, and subscription details
- Inside MimicScribe at Settings > Subscription (once activated)
Device limits
Each license key can be activated on a limited number of Macs. If you try to activate on more devices than your license allows, activation will fail with a message indicating the limit has been reached.
To free up a slot, deactivate the key on a device you no longer use:
- Open MimicScribe on the device you want to remove
- Go to Settings > Subscription
- Click Deactivate
You can also manage activations through the Polar customer portal — sign in with your purchase email and deactivate individual devices from there.
Managing your subscription
All subscription management is handled through the Polar customer portal:
Sign in with the email you used to purchase. From the portal you can:
- View your current subscription and billing cycle
- See your order history and receipts
- Access your license key
- Cancel your subscription
- Manage device activations
Canceling your subscription
You can cancel at any time through the Polar customer portal:
- Sign in with your purchase email
- Find your active subscription
- Click Cancel
When you cancel:
- Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period
- You won’t be charged again after the current period ends
- Once the period ends, your license expires and free tier limits apply
- Your data, transcripts, and recordings are never deleted — they remain on your Mac
You can optionally provide a reason for canceling, which helps us improve MimicScribe.
Refund policy
30-day money-back guarantee
We offer a 30-day refund window from the date of your first purchase. If MimicScribe isn’t working out for you, email support@mimicscribe.app with your purchase date and we’ll process a refund — no questions asked.
After 30 days
After the 30-day window, all sales are final. We encourage you to make full use of the free tier before purchasing to make sure MimicScribe meets your needs.
Subscription renewals
If your subscription renews and you did not cancel beforehand, the renewal charge is not eligible for a refund. Cancel through the Polar customer portal before your renewal date to prevent future charges.
How refunds are processed
Refunds are returned to your original payment method. Processing time depends on your payment provider (typically 5–10 business days). Note that Polar reserves the right to issue refunds within 60 days of purchase at their discretion to prevent chargebacks.
Billing FAQ
What payment methods are accepted?
Polar accepts major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through Stripe.
When am I charged?
- Monthly: on the same date each month as your original purchase
- Annual: on the same date each year as your original purchase
What happens if my payment fails?
If a renewal payment fails, Polar will retry the charge. If payment continues to fail, your subscription will be suspended and free tier limits will apply. Update your payment method in the Polar customer portal to restore access.
Can I switch between monthly and annual billing?
Cancel your current subscription and purchase a new one with the desired billing interval. Your license key will change — activate the new key in Settings > Subscription.
I purchased but didn’t receive my license key
Check your spam/junk folder for an email from Polar. If you still can’t find it, sign in to the Polar customer portal with your purchase email to retrieve your key. If that doesn’t work, email support@mimicscribe.app.
My license shows as Invalid
- Double-check the key for typos — copy and paste from the Polar email or portal rather than typing it manually
- Make sure your subscription is still active in the Polar customer portal
- If you recently renewed, try clicking Verify again in Settings > Subscription
